IARC and National Cancer Center Japan host CanScreen5 training course for Asia–Pacific countries

Researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), in collaboration with the National Cancer Center Japan, hosted the Cancer Screening in Five Continents (CanScreen5) Asia–Pacific Training 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, on 14–17 October 2025.

This prestigious event brought together 21 programme managers and health-care professionals from 13 countries in the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region and the WHO South-East Asia Region – Brunei Darussalam, Fiji, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Palau, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam – to train in cancer screening programme evaluation and quality improvement through systematic collection of high-quality data.

This training initiative contributes to the CanScreen5 objective of training programme managers and health-care professionals in these areas. This course was made possible with the collaboration of the WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia and the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific.
