Sixty-Second Session of the IARC Scientific Council meets in Lyon and via web conference

The Sixty-Second Session of the Scientific Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is taking place on 11–13 February 2026. This session of the Scientific Council is being held on site in Lyon, France, and via web conference as a hybrid meeting.

During the meeting, the Scientific Council will discuss the scientific review of the Genomic Epidemiology Branch (GEM) and propose recommendations if areas for improvement are identified.

This session of the Scientific Council is chaired by Dr Sirpa Heinävaara of Finland.

Sessions of the Scientific Council are being held as in-person and remote events in alternate years. Scientific reviews of IARC research Branches are being held fully remotely until further notice.
