A series of 17 scientific articles coordinated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as part of the Cancer in Central and South America (CSA) Project is being published today as an open-access supplement issue of Cancer Epidemiology. The series provides a comprehensive analysis of recent cancer patterns in Central and South America, based on the most extensive collation of data on cancer incidence and mortality in the region to date. The articles can also be accessed on the IARC Global Cancer Observatory website, along with cancer profiles for 22 countries and further information on cancer etiology in the region. The CSA Project is a collaboration between IARC’s Section of Cancer Surveillance, the Red de Institutos e Instituciones Nacionales de Cáncer (RINC), and cancer registries throughout the Central and South American region.
