IARC at the high-level conference “Fighting Cancer around the World: A Framework for Action”

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will be represented at the high-level conference “Fighting Cancer around the World: A Framework for Action”, which will take place at the Institute of Global Health in Geneva, Switzerland, on 19 September 2024. The aim of this conference is to identify how different global regions are tackling cancer, which differences exist in cancer care around the globe, and which mechanisms are being used to control cancer. The conference was organized by the European Alliance for Personalized Medicine as a side event at the World Cancer Congress.

To contribute to understanding the inevitable complexities of this topic, this conference will examine, from a range of perspectives, the provision of care and policies relating to cancer, principally across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and Latin America, with some regional generalizations and some country-specific details.

The conference will provide a chance to re-align priorities to evaluate the needs of patients, health-care professionals, and health systems, and to facilitate improved and safer access to diagnostics with the support of the pathology community. Dr Zisis Kozlakidis, Head of Laboratory Support, Biobanking, and Services at IARC, will participate during Plenary Session III: Coordination of Cancer Plans, Implementation and Role of Data.
