The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has established a new award to recognize the achievements of women in cancer research. The IARC Award for Women in Cancer Research will acknowledge and reward outstanding women who have made a significant contribution to this field.
IARC personnel have nominated scientists from a range of disciplines to receive the inaugural award. To be considered for nomination, the researcher had to (i) have made an outstanding contribution to global cancer prevention research in areas such as (but not limited to) discovery, implementation, or leadership in their field; (ii) identify as a woman; and (iii) not be currently affiliated with IARC.
Voting is now under way by IARC personnel. The laureate will receive the award during a presentation ceremony at which they will give a public lecture on their work.
