On World Cancer Day, 4 February 2019, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) invited its Lyon-based partners to a presentation about the new IARC headquarters. The event was an opportunity for IARC scientists and researchers to meet, establish relationships with, and exchange ideas with IARC’s future neighbours.
Thanks to the generosity and continued support of the French government, the Métropole de Lyon, the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and the Ville de Lyon, IARC will move to its new headquarters building in the Gerland Biodistrict area of Lyon in 2022.
This “Nouveau Centre” will be a hub of Open Science, with a vision to share innovative, creative ideas and compelling data obtained through the use of state-of-the-art equipment.
IARC, the specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organization, has been located in Lyon for more than 50 years and has integrated itself into the fabric of the city, which prides itself on promoting excellence in scientific and medical research.
