Dr Christine Friedenreich presented a seminar to personnel of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) via web conference, as part of the IARC Distinguished Speaker Series. A video recording of the seminar, held on 18 June 2020, is now available.
In her presentation, titled “Physical activity across the cancer continuum: epidemiology and biologic mechanisms”, Dr Friedenreich gave an overview of the topic of physical activity in cancer control across the cancer continuum, including the periods before diagnosis and before, during, and after treatment.
Dr Friedenreich is the Scientific Director of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research at CancerControl Alberta with Alberta Health Services in Canada. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Faculties of Medicine and Kinesiology of the University of Calgary, the Division Head of the Division of Prevention Oncology, and the Interim Scientific Director of the O’Brien Institute for Public Health at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. She is currently the Chairperson of the IARC Scientific Council.
